Mitch League Preview: Week 4

Okay, you're going to have to take my word on this. Despite the fact that I had a disastrous draft strategy which has left my team dramatically underwhelming and sitting in last place, I have had a ton of other things keeping me from my typical Commissionary Position. Anyhow, I'm getting back in the swing of things now and I hope that I will be able to bring this preview along with my favorite feature from last year, the Power Rankings back every Saturday with all the glitz, glamour, and genius insight you're accustomed to. This week we'll start with an Elite Eight since we're a little pressed for time before the games start. So, without further adieu, here we are:

POWER RANKINGS (Week Four- The Elite Eight Edition):

1. Walking Fire Exits (3-0) : Russ made a trade with my franchise that I have the funny feeling I will regret all year. With outstanding play from Palmer, his boy Randy Moss, and Minnesota's Defense the Exit's have been racking up points and wins for three straight weeks. He's got a big game this week against Ian but I think he's got the matchups to remain the only unbeaten team.

2. Temporarily Stairs (2-1) : Scott's team features the Romonator and he's been taking care of business so far. With a favorable matchup this week against I Hate Turtleneck look for Stairs to continue their winning ways so long as their Manager doesn't get stung by a scorpion.

3. Chainsaw Jugglers (2-1) : Carl has been running on all cylinders so far this year and doesn't look to slow down anytime soon. Despite having major bye week issues he is going up against a banged up Severed Foot lineup that has been struggling out of the gate. The jugglers get a great game out of Daunte and rolls onto a 3-1 start.

4. Soccer 'N' Shishkabob (2-1) : The return sensation Ben has been racking 'em and stacking 'em early on, but looks to have a tough test this week with a number of guys banged up or on the bye week. If he comes through this one unscathed we'll know he's for real.

5. Falling Candy Bars (2-1) : Ian has mad skills. He very rarely finds a nunchuck or a computer that he can not wield or hack. This week his fantasy skills will be put to the test facing no. 1 ranked Russ. Can Peyton light up the Badonkadoncos for 30 and lead him to victory? Will Pittsburg's D pull off Leinhart's arm and beat him with it?
Keys to victory this week? Two Words: Cincinnatti's Defense. Bank it.

6. Crazy Ass Tartar (2-1) : My Friend Tom Clark is poised for one of the biggest weeks of the season. Vernand Morency is back in action for the Pack, Barber the Tres is heading to a beleaguered St. Louis team and should tear it up and Reggie Wayne and Bernard Berrian are due for big weeks. I see Tartar giving 2,000 rice and his QB Marc Bulger a good flossing, and not the clean teeth kind.

7. The Dill Devils (1-2) : For some reason, every year during the draft preview I highlight Kyle's offbeat draft strategy, and by a couple weeks into every season so far the light goes on and I go "ahhhhhhh". This is the same scene, new year as Kyle has a few suprises up his sleeve. If Alex Smith can get his game right, these Devils could be scary come playoff time.

8. Your Friends at Yoplait (1-2) : This may come as a surprise having Randy in the Elite Eight. You could say I'm picking the Michigan I know versus the Michigan I don't and ignoring Chris or that I just want a cow in the Rankings. The fact of the matter is his team is good. So goo din fact that he has scored enough points and has good enough players that he will be a factor all season. Look for a win this week and to see Randy higher on the totem pole in Week 5.

The Commissioner's Game of the Week:

The only undefeated team left on the block looks to have a big game on a big week. With Palmer ramping up to test the Pats D and favorable WR matchups with a weak Cinci D trying to stop Randy Moss, and Deion Branch going after Arizona's pitiful secondary it could be a big day. Ian will have to have a big showing from Peyton Manning, but should have big games out of Pittsburg's D and Nate Burleson who is also going up against the Cardinals D. I think the question mark in this one is Ian's running game. If Benson and Peterson can have big days this could be a big win for the Bars but I think that Russ pulls this one of but not by much.

Prediction: Exits 65, Bars 60

Hope you enjoyed the first round of updates for the year, keep checking back for more fun to come.

Mitchelly Yours,

The Commish
